Frequently Asked Questions
First things first:
Will there be consumption of magic mushrooms at Shroom Sabha?
No. Psilocybin mushrooms are not legalized in India, and their consumption, distribution, or sale is strictly prohibited at Shroom Sabha.
While the festival may feature talks and discussions on the history, science, culture, and therapeutic research surrounding psychoactive fungi, Shroom Sabha is an educational and community-focused event that fully complies with the law. We ask all attendees to respect these guidelines and help us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Not at all! Shroom Sabha welcomes complete beginners, seasoned foragers, researchers, artists, chefs, cultivators, and everyone in between. Whether this is your first time noticing a mushroom or you’ve been obsessed with fungi for years, you’ll find plenty to explore. Curiosity is the only prerequisite.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
A spirit of curiosity and adventure
Comfortable walking shoes
Lightweight rain protection
Weather-appropriate clothing
Insect repellent
A reusable water bottle
Any necessary medications
Personal identification
What are the food and beverage arrangements?
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and refreshments are included with your ticket. Every meal at Shroom Sabha is mushroom-led and specially curated by Chef Satish and Chef Manon of OG Mushrooms, showcasing the remarkable diversity of fungi through nourishing, locally inspired vegetarian cuisine. If you have dietary requirements such as gluten-free or dairy-free needs, please contact us in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
Can I charge my phone and other devices on-site?
Yes. Charging points will be available around the festival grounds, although capacity is limited. We recommend bringing a power bank if you rely heavily on your devices or plan to take lots of photographs.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Limited Wi-Fi is available at Varanashi Organic Farms, but it is not sufficient to support the full capacity of the festival. We encourage attendees to embrace the opportunity to disconnect, slow down, and connect to the mycelium instead.
Are there any restrictions or guidelines for foraging or collecting mushrooms during the festival?
We follow strict ethical foraging guidelines which follow an honour code. When foraging, we only forage 10% of the visible specimens of any one species. Aside from a few choice edibles, we will only be foraging a few of each species we encounter for educational and exploratory purposes.
Is smoking/vaping permitted?
No. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the festival grounds barring the designated smoking area.
Is alcohol permitted?
No. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on festival grounds, in order to maintain a safe space for all attendees.
Is there a map, schedule, and festival program?
Yes. A detailed programme, festival map, and activity schedule will be shared before the festival and will also be available on-site.
